In excess of 80,000 children have very little hope in life due to a disaster of someone else’s making’
Friends of Chernobyl’s Children North & West Cumbria, a local charity, helps these children. We bring them over for one months respite care every year. Good food, medical checks and lots of tender loving care in a clean air environment.
Because this disaster happened way back in 1986, the plight of these children has been forgotten.
Without your help, this is all these children can look forward to....
About Friends of Chernobyl’s Children
The Benefits to the Children
Host families care for the children by providing a friendly, stable environment, clean nourishing food and lots of love. The charity provides a twelve month supply of vitamins and any essential medicines for the children. It has been proven that care of this nature will substantially boost their own immune systems, so depleted by the effect of radiation and enable the children to enjoy a healthier, fuller and longer life. It is the aim of the charity to repeat this treatment for each child every twelve months as advised by the medical authorities in Belarus, normally for three years.
Friends of Chernobyl’s Children North & West Cumbria is a registered charity which is an affiliated group to Friends of Chernobyl’s Children GB. There are 28 local groups across the country.
We devote our time to raising funds to bring children who are at risk from Belarus to the UK for a month every year. We target children from orphanages or disadvantaged homes, aged between 7 and 13. These children are in great need and come from social situations that make it difficult for them to get the care they require at home.
